Tech Tip: phx42 Charger Care
Some sites report frustration with the reliability of the phx42 charger, while many other sites experience no frustration at all.
We process hundreds of phx42s through our repair lab with virtually no failures of this part.
The current charger connector is an off-the-shelf industry standard PVC-jacketed wire with added strain relief and a very high-quality aerospace connector. We don’t believe there is a better option available.
For best results follow these simple procedures:
- Only remove the charger by grasping the silver charger connector.
- Don’t…
- …pull on the cord to remove the charger.
- …pull on the cord to move the phx42.
- …move, un-stack, re-stack, or disturb the phx42s when they are connected to the charger.
- Due to location of the charger port, the Bluetooth® antenna may interfere with removing the charger connector when using your right hand (a). You can use your left hand (b) or rotate the phx42 180° to allow easier access (c).
If you have to replace a broken charger, please keep these things in mind:
- If this is a problem for your site, we recommend you keep one or two spares on hand.
- New chargers cost $325.92.
- Refurbished chargers only cost $101.71. This requires you return the broken one to us so we can refurbish if for the next user!
